I guess the front page Vodafone ad yesterday would have excited many. " Apple iPhone 3G , Coming Soon. " Both Airtel and Vodafone had earlier announced their tie-ups with Apple to bring the iPhone in India, and have now started pre-bookings.Since then Apple has launched the new iPhone3G, with 3G and inbuilt GPS.
The good news is that we will now get the new iPhone3G in India.Some of the new additions in the iPhone 3G are:
- Slimmer, Sleeker
- 3.5 mm standard headphone jack
- Integrated GPS unit ( Can't wait for this !!! )
- Better battery life
- Lower price, iPhone 3G 8GB for $199(Rs.8500),16GB for $299(Rs.13000 approx.)
In the meanwhile, current market leaders are already feeling the iPhone heat.Nokia's CEO has already made his fear's public.Motorola and Samsung are already planning their iPhone Killers.
Nonetheless, I wait eagerly for the iPhone debut in India!

i already had order my iphone to one of our relative on tour to USA, recently i bought my panasonic handycam, still i will go for new iphone-DKapadia
am happy with my old phone Nokia high triband why should i spent more monies on this freky phone- Grace
wait watch and see - do not buy this phone unless sombody actually uses. is there shopsticated service sentre in India? can they repaire the phone, if lost/stolen what is the insurance on this iphone? will get the 80 pc money back? if lost and logged compalin with police then you are forceibly give indemnity to police that you have lost but not stolen and if you submit the complaint with the authorities there is no insurance due so you are lost.

The exact terms and conditions are the biggest secret that the Vodafone guys are keeping right now, but the best sources say it might be in the range of 12-13k. One thing is sure, that Vodafone will beat Airtel in the date of launch.
Guys check the site www.gsmarena.com and www.phonearena.com. There 'l see the drwback of this phone. Price is only consideration which will make this phone a hit or flop in Indian market. At 20 or 25 k we have loads of phones available with many features and no service provider restriction. please wait and read reviews before u shell out your hard earned money on iphone. i'm not anti iphone . its looks awesome and thats it. its doesn't support video recordin, mms, and to the top no bluetooth. can't support songs if u transfer any song from any other phone... so look before u buy
Hey Mrinal, that is really a very good advice that you give.The iphone beats everybody hands down as far as style and functionality is concerned, but still there are a lot of glitches and things to take care off before finally taking the plunge.So guys, make a wise decision, my call is that if it is above 15k, than there a number of other phones which will serve you great than the iPhone.

3g, wide screen and internet are the main features.
but there is no 3g in india, so internet wont be faster.
is it worh 31k just for the widescreen?
and why is it so highly priced in india compared to the US and europe. Despite being priced so high, its locked with the service provider!!!
Well.. I too was very fond of iPhone but I now feel that the phone is not worth of >15-20K as it lacks some imp features that are common to most phones these days, for eg - bluetooth, video recording etc.. The absence of bluetooth is intentional by Apple as they want their product iTunes to be used for establishing a sync with your computer. Its simply bad marketing trick...
Rather talking personally, I feel Windows Mobile 6 professional has much more capabilities than mac OS based iPhone. I have decided to go for a smartphone within budget and with maximum features.. I am going to go for HTC Touch (3452) .. Hope u guys have a look at it. Any feedbacks before I finalize my decision ?
